THE NIGERIAN CUSTOMS SERVICE: A Response
Our attention has been drawn to the purported response of the Nigerian Customs Service to a viral video of the killing of an innocent Nigerian by a customs officer. I would not have believed this response if I didn't see something similar on the network news.
I can’t believe that having watched this video, this NCS through it's PRO has the audacity to write a response like this. It shows that either they didn't watch the video, or they have absolutely no respect for the Nigerian public as they ascribe no understanding to us at all. Before the innocent guy was shot another officer was saying shoot him. It’s right there in the video recording. And then he cocked his gun and shot him, and now the Nigerian Customs Service is telling us that it’s an accidental discharge. This is scandalous and completely unacceptable. Who are the guys involved and why is the NCS changing the narrative to protect them. What are they saying to the family of the deceased? Bribing them with money or threatening and blackmailing them? This is a criminal offence and should be investigated by the police and the FINDINGS made known to the Nigerian public.
The NCS should be reminded that this is 2019. We know that guns actually have safety features. To kill a person with a gun you need to have cocked it with the intention to fire. I’m so livid. We must challenge this impunity. Enough is certainly enough. This officer knew he committed an offence and then he tried to drive off and the passengers stopped him and pulled him out. Thanks to them, we would never have known how the NCS dispatches innocent Nigerians to the great beyond with impunity, non challance and unchallenged fully protected by the service which is paid for by tax payers. And now they are talking about passengers driving off. Thank God they did, otherwise they may have suffered the same faith. My God, this is Nigeria!!!
NB: THIS CAN BE ANY OF US OR OUR CHILDREN. SHARE UNTIL THE PRESIDENT GETS THIS AND NCS COMES CLEAN WITH NIGERIANS AND BRINGS THE CRIMINALS THAT KILLED THAT INNOCENT NIGERIAN MAN TO JUSTICE.
