The Atiku Campaign Organization has warned the governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano to stop campaigning for the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Muhammadu Buhari, as the support runs counter to the collective and corporate interests of the Igbo people.
The Director-General of the Atiku-Peter Obi Presidential Campaign Organization (APCO) in Anambra State, Dr. Harry Oranezi issued the warning.
Oranezi mad e the position clear in a statement issued to newsmen shortly after an emergency meeting of the party at the party office yesterday.
He expressed worry with the pro-Buhari posture of Governor Obiano which, according to him, is in utter disregard to his penchant to marginalise and discriminate against the people of the South-east geo-political zone and Anambra state in particular.
The reaction followed comments credited to the governor most recently in which he controversially lauded President Buhari for factoring Igbo interest in his policies and programmes shortly after inspecting both Zik’s Mausoleum and Second Niger Bridge which the governor described as a plus for Buhari for completing the project abandoned over 21 years ago.
Oranezi said: “Atiku- Obi Presidential Campaign Organization, Anambra State chapter has decried the uncritical adulation of President Muhammadu Buhari by Anambra State governor, Chief Willie Obiano over the fangled development of Southeast geopolitical zone, which can at best be described as a subtle campaign of undeserved goodwill bearing in mind the injustice, inequities and discriminatory propensities of the Buhari court against the Southeast geo-political zone.
“Take for example, Buhari has continued to maintain studied silence over the massacre of innocent South easterners in the North, the high-handedness mistreatment of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) leaders, strategic exclusion of Southeast in rail connection, security architecture of the country and sundry appointments.
“The Igbo’s shall not be deceived by the actions and utterances of persons who want to achieve ill-conceived objectives and will certainly demonstrate their preference for good governance and strive to make Nigeria work again”, Oranezi stressed.
The DG of APCO applauded the wife of the former Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Board of Trustees, Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu for speaking out against bad leadership and admonished lovers of Ndigbo to emulate her and not to stoop to grovelling inclination.
