Addressing citizens and stakeholders, Dr. Oredipe said his decision to seek the governorship stems from a deep commitment to serve the people and advance the progress of Ogun State.
He emphasized that Ogun State stands at a critical moment in its development and requires visionary leadership capable of harnessing its enormous economic and social potential.
According to him, his administration will prioritize balanced development that benefits both urban centers and rural communities.
“Our state stands at a pivotal moment. I envision an Ogun State where progress is visible in our cities and equally felt in rural communities. My commitment is to pursue development that ensures no community is left behind,” he said.
Dr. Oredipe also urged responsible citizens to participate actively in leadership and governance.
“When good people avoid leadership, mediocrity takes over. It is time for men and women with sincerity, integrity, and vision to step forward and serve.”
He pledged that his leadership would be guided by sincerity, humility, inclusiveness, and accountability, assuring that every community in Ogun State will have a voice in government.
As part of his governance strategy, Dr. Oredipe announced plans to establish a community compact that will create a structured partnership between government and citizens to promote transparency and measurable development outcomes.
He also stated that his national and international professional relationships would be leveraged to attract investment, innovation, and development opportunities to Ogun State.
Regional Development Strategy
Dr. Oredipe outlined a balanced development framework designed to strengthen economic growth across the four traditional divisions of Ogun State—Remo, Yewa, Egba, and Ijebu—while ensuring fairness across the three senatorial districts of Ogun Central, Ogun East, and Ogun West.
Remo Axis: Expansion of industrial clusters, support for small and medium enterprises, improved road infrastructure, and establishment of innovation hubs for young entrepreneurs.
Yewa Axis: Agricultural modernization through mechanized farming, agro-processing zones, improved rural infrastructure, and youth participation in agribusiness.
Egba Division: Urban renewal initiatives, improved transportation systems, healthcare and education development, and promotion of cultural tourism.
Ijebu Region: Expansion of commerce, trade, tourism, and entrepreneurship through improved infrastructure and investment support for local industries.
Across the senatorial districts, Dr. Oredipe promised infrastructure development, youth empowerment programs, improved public services, and targeted economic initiatives aimed at accelerating statewide growth.
Youth Development and Human Capital
He stressed that youth development will remain central to his administration, with plans for large-scale skills acquisition programs, entrepreneurship support, and digital training initiatives.
Education reform, improved healthcare delivery, and human capital investment will also form key pillars of his long-term development strategy.
Professional Background
Dr. Oredipe brings decades of professional experience in development economics, agriculture, and international project management.
Born in 1961, he hails from Oke-Eri in Ijebu and Odo Legan near Erunwon in Ogun State. He studied at the College of Agriculture, Akure, Obafemi Awolowo University, University of Bradford (UK), and the University of Ibadan, where he earned a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics. He also attended the Maastricht School of Management in the Netherlands.
He previously served as National Coordinator of the Second National Fadama Development Project (FADAMA II), widely recognized as one of Nigeria’s most successful agricultural development programs. He later became National Coordinator of the Multinational NERICA Rice Dissemination Project.
Dr. Oredipe subsequently joined the World Bank as a Senior Operations Officer and served as Senior Technical Adviser to the former Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, contributing significantly to Nigeria’s Agricultural Transformation Agenda.
He currently leads several development initiatives across Nigeria, Liberia, and Sierra Leone and is presently on assignment at the World Bank office in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
Private Sector and Community Contributions
Beyond public service, Dr. Oredipe has invested in businesses and community development projects across Ijebuland. His enterprises include Abisola Hotel, Legan Hall Event Centre, A&G Event Centre, Fadreb Petrol Station, Fadreb Farms, and a Cassava Processing Centre, which have created jobs and stimulated local economic activity.
He has also supported several community initiatives, including road construction, electricity transformer installations, water supply systems, educational support programs, and mechanized farming through the establishment of a Tractor Hiring Centre.
