FCTA workers seek approval for balance of 2022 May Day subvention 


Two months after, staff unions are still requesting release the balance of its subvention used in marking the 2022 workers day celebration.


The staff under the ageis of Joint Unions Action Committee (JUAC) are appealing to the the Secretary of the FCTA, Mr. Olusade Adesola, to approve a balance of N4,575,000.00 from the N19, 125,000.00 spent on .... for the celebration.


The memo dated June 24 recounted drew the attention of the distinguished Permanent Secretary to the increase in the numbers of Unions that makes up the JUAC from 10 to 15.


JUAC, while commending the management of the FCTA for increasing the 2022 May Day subvention from N12,850,000 in 2021 to N14,550,000 however pointed that the Union is still battling with some outstanding payments due to the increment in the numbers of Union in JUAC. 


The memo tittled Request for Funds to mark the 2022 FCTA/FCDA Workers Day Celebration (AKA: May Day) consigned by the Chairman and General Secretary of JUAC, Comr. Matilukuro Oluwakorede​​​ and Comr. Akuh Sunday, reads in part, "Our Distinguished Permanent Secretary (PS) may wish to recall our earlier discussion on the above subject, where the Joint Unions Action Committee (JUAC) drew the attention of the distinguished Permanent Secretary (PS) to the increased in the numbers of Unions, from 10 to 15 presently in JUAC.


"The Joint Union wishes to appreciate the management for increasing the 2022 May Day subvention from N12,850,000 in 2021 to N14,550,000 . Indeed, this is highly commendable of the management of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), most especially our Amiable Gentle Giant (AGG).


"Sir, while we commend the Administration for extending this beautiful olive hand of over Two Million (N2,000,000) Naira in addition to what was provided to JUAC in 2021, JUAC however invite our PS to know that the Union is still battling with some outstanding payments due to the increment in the numbers of Union in JUAC."


According to JUAC the new unions include ASUSS, NASU, NUAHP, AUTOBATE AND CCESSA), while the old union are ASCSN, RATTAWU, AUPTRE, NUJ, MHWUN, NCSU, NUPSTRAW, AAEUN, NULGE, NAMNNM) bringing the strength of the Unions to cater for to 15.


Our correspondents gathered that a breakdown of the expenditure include, Allowance to 15 unions @ N800,000 for entertainment​ N12,000,000.00, FCTA 2022 workers Day Banner 15No at N35,000​ N525,000.00, JUAC May Day Cake,​​​​​​ N50,000.00, JUAC Yearly Dues (15 Unions) at N40,000 for 15 Unions N600,000.00, Transportation Allowance to 2000 workers, N1500 each N3,000,000.00, Food and Refreshment at 2000 per workers ar N2,000 each​ N4,000,000.00​, bring the total to​​​​​​ N19, 125,000.00


The Union therefore appealed that the outstanding payment of​​​​​​​ N4.575 million be made to enable it clear its outstanding debt with respect to 2022 Workers Day.
